The good news: this pocket of Phoenix sits inside one of the strongest school-choice areas in the Valley. You're not locked into a single option just because of your address. Between zoned public schools, district wide open enrollment, a nationally-recognized tuition-free charter network, and well regarded private schools, families here typically have several strong paths to choose from, not just one.

What School District Is Arcadia, AZ In?

It depends on which pocket of the neighborhood you're in. Depending on the address, families here fall into one of three public elementary districts, plus one shared high school district.

Arcadia proper falls mostly within the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), even though the neighborhood itself is technically part of Phoenix. Depending on your exact address, your zoned schools may include:

• Hopi Elementary School (K-5)
• Tavan Elementary School (K-5)
• Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center (ANLC) (K-8)
• Ingleside Middle School (6-8)
• Arcadia High School (9-12)

Arcadia Lite, Lower Arcadia and Biltmore Heights is served by the Creighton Elementary School District, a K-8 district. The assigned schools for most kids in this pocket are:

• Biltmore Preparatory Academy (K-8), a public school with a Spanish-immersion program at 34th Street and Camelback, part of the neighborhood since 1954.
• Monte Vista Elementary School (PK-8), a public school in the Creighton Elementary School District at 35th Street and Osborn Road

Since Creighton is a K-8-only district, students then move on to Camelback High School, part of the Phoenix Union High School District, for grades 9-12.

Exact boundaries can vary block by block, so it's always worth confirming your specific address before you buy.

Madison Elementary School District: A Popular Open-Enrollment Choice

Madison Elementary School District (roughly 7th Avenue to 32nd Street, Northern Avenue to Camelback Road) covers The Biltmore area and is one of the most sought-after public districts in central Phoenix. It's home to standout schools like Madison Traditional Academy, consistently ranked among the top elementary schools in Arizona, along with Madison Camelview and Madison Heights Elementary.

Because of that reputation, Madison is also a common open-enrollment destination for families in Arcadia, Arcadia Lite, and Lower Arcadia who aren't zoned into the district but want in. It's competitive, and popular campuses fill up, but it's a real option worth exploring even outside your assigned district.

Open Enrollment Means Boundaries Aren't the Whole Story

All three districts give families more flexibility than the assigned-school map suggests. Scottsdale Unified offers open enrollment district-wide, so you can apply to a school other than the one you're zoned for, based on space availability. A popular pick within the SUSD is Kiva Elementary School (PK-6), in Paradise Valley, a consistently top-ranked SUSD campus that draws a steady stream of Arcadia families through open enrollment. 

A few SUSD campuses, including Cheyenne Traditional School, Pueblo Elementary, and Scottsdale Online Learning, are official "Schools of Choice" with no geographic boundary at all, and Cheyenne in particular is in high demand with a current waitlist.

Creighton School District offers open enrollment across all of its schools, including Biltmore Prep, and Madison Elementary School District accepts open enrollment applications too.

So if your zoned school isn't the right fit, that's rarely the end of the conversation. It's usually just the starting point.

Note: SUSD is currently in a period of budget-driven school consolidation. The district closed Echo Canyon K-8 and Pima Elementary starting the 2026-27 school year, and is reviewing several smaller campuses for possible future closures. Nothing else changes before 2026-27, but it's worth confirming current enrollment options directly with the district.

Charter Schools: Tuition-Free and Open to Everyone

This is where Arcadia families have a real advantage. Great Hearts Academies, one of Arizona's most respected charter networks, has its roots right here in the neighborhood:

• Archway Veritas (K-5)
• Veritas Preparatory Academy (6-12)

Both campuses sit right in Arcadia and offer a classical, liberal-arts education with small class sizes and a strong academic track record, completely tuition-free, since they're public charter schools. Because they're charters, there's no geographic boundary here either. Admission runs through an open lottery, available to any Arizona family. Great Hearts has built a loyal following among Arcadia parents, and it's often one of the first names that comes up when people talk about why they moved to the neighborhood.

Can I attend a school outside my assigned boundary? Yes. Scottsdale Unified, Creighton, and Madison all offer open enrollment, letting students apply to other schools within the district based on space availability. A few SUSD schools, like Cheyenne Traditional, also have no geographic boundary at all. Many families also choose local charter schools or private schools.
